If an error message is displayed during your VideoScribe installation advising that a DLL is required to complete the installation, here's what to do...
During installation, the installer will make checks to ensure that all the relevant files are available to use on the Operating System for the software to run. A DLL is a component in the registry which may be missing if you receive this message.
- First of all you need to make sure your Windows operating system meets the minimum system requirements for VideoScribe - you need Windows 7 or higher. We recommend that you upgrade to at least Windows 8, as Microsoft ended support for Windows 7 on January 14th 2020.
- Next, make sure your Windows Operating System is fully up to date if you are having trouble installing software.
If you are having an issue installing VideoScribe due to a missing DLL, use Windows Troubleshooter, which is a Microsoft application that runs a check for errors on your computer and will try to fix them.

Stop and restart the Windows Installer Service
- Click the Windows menu button (formerly the Start button).
- In the Start search box (A) type 'Services' and select it when it appears
- For Windows 8 computers you may have to search for 'Services' in the settings menu then select 'View local services' (B).
- Expand the 'Services' window and scroll down to 'Windows Installer'
- Right-click the Windows Installer list item, select 'Stop' (C), then Right-click again and select 'Start' (D)
Add the 'Everyone' group with full control
- Click the Windows menu button (formerly the Start button)
- In the Start search box (E) type ‘%localappdata%’ and then click the AppData/Local folder item (F) that appears at the top.
- In the folder list, right-click the Temp folder (G), select 'Properties’ (H).
- On the 'Security' tab (I), click the 'Edit' button (J)
- On the next screen select 'Add' (K)
- In the text window on the next screen, type 'Everyone' and then click 'Check Names' – 'Everyone' should now be underlined and click 'OK' (L).
- Check the box for full control (M) under the 'Allow' column, then click ‘Apply’ (N), and then ‘OK’ (O). Full control will be now be granted allowing
